YOUR TEXT AND MULTIMEDIA MESSAGES 7 CHAPTER Sending and receiving text and multimedia messages You can use the Messaging application to send and receive brief text messages (SMS) and multimedia messages (MMS). Creating and sending a text message Each text message can have up to 160 characters. You can send a message of more than 160 characters, but the message may be split into several messages. If you send a text message to an email address, the email address is deducted from the 160-character count. BEFORE YOU BEGIN • Before you use your smartphone to send or receive messages, consult your wireless service provider for pricing and availability of text messaging services. • Make sure that your phone is on and that you're inside a coverage area (see Turning your phone on). 1 Press Messaging . 2 Select SMS\MMS. 3 Press Menu (right softkey) and select New > SMS. 4 Enter the recipient's name, mobile phone number, or email address: DID YOU KNOW? You can send and receive text messages even while you are on a phone call.
