PART 7 USING MS-DOS 7.7.5 DISKCOPY : Making Backup Copies of Your Disks It is strongly recommended that you make copies of your disks and store the original disk in a safe place. If the disk becomes damaged or information stored on the disk is accidentally erased, you still have all the information on your original disk. The DISKCOPY command duplicates the contents of a disk to another disk. You can use this command to copy both your MS-DOS system disk or a disk that contains your own files. The instructions below assume that you make a copy of your disk by using the built-in disk drive. You need two disks as follows. o Source disk is the original disk of which you will make a copy. o Target disk is one that will become the work disk. When you use the DISKCOPY command, it is recommended that you set the write protection tab of the source disk to make sure that your source disk is not accidentally written on. 7-36
