PART 7 USING MS-DOS 7.7.8 TYPE : Displaying Contents of File The TYPE command is used to display the contents of a file on the screen. (1) Make sure that prompt A> is displayed. (2) Insert a disk containing the file you want to display into drive -A. (3) If the file name is SALES.DAT , type type sales.dat and then press the Enter key. (4) The contents of the file is displayed on the screen. If the information appears on the screen too fast for you to read, hold the Ctrl key down and press PrtSe . This suspends the output of information to the screen. Press any key to resume the output. Note that the contents of some files, such as program or data files written by the computer, are not always displayed in a readable manner. The information on the screen might look strange to you. 7-45

Displaying
Contents

File
The
TYPE
command
is
used
to
display
the
contents
of
a
file
on
the
screen.
(1)
Make
sure
that
prompt
A>
is
displayed.
(2)
Insert
a
disk
containing
the
file
you
want
to
display
into
drive
-A.
(3)
If
the
file
name
is
SALES.DAT
,
type
type
sales.dat
and
then
press
the
Enter
key.
(4)
The
contents
of
the
file
is
displayed
on
the
screen.
If
the
information
appears

the
screen

hold
the
