Using the Front Panel Standby Mode Standby Mode The printer has a standby mode where, after a period of inactivity, the printer goes into a sleep mode (low-power usage mode). This is indicated by the front panel display and status indicators turning off. The indicator light on the Standby switch is on when the printer is in standby mode. The printer "wakes up" whenever you press the Standby switch on the printer or there is any I/O activity such as receipt of a file. NOTE Standby switch C4704131a You can manually place the printer in standby mode by pressing the Standby switch when the printer is in normal operating mode. When you manually put the printer in standby mode, it will not "wake up" until you press the switch again. s Use the Standby switch to turn the printer off and on, rather than the Power switch on the back of the printer. s Use the Power Switch only when you need to isolate the printer from the power source, such as, when you are disconnecting or connecting cables, or upgrading memory. To re-initialize the printer, press and hold the Standby switch for three or more seconds. 2-6
