Responding to Fabric Watch Messages Environment Class Messages Temperature Area Messages Probable Cause The temperature of the chassis has risen above the normal range, indicating a possible hardware problem. Temperature-related messages most often appear when fans fail. Recommended Action If you receive a temperature-related message, check for an accompanying fan-related message and perform related troubleshooting. If all fans function normally, check the climate control in your lab. Note: To set useful temperature boundaries, note the default values or contact your switch supplier. Messages Message Description Troubleshooting FW-CHANGED, 4, envTemp (Env Temperature ) value has changed, current value: C. (info) Explains that the internal temperature of the switch has changed to a new value. Presents the new value. This is an informational message. Respond to this message as is appropriate to the particular policy of the end-user installation. To prevent recurring messages, disable the changed alarm for this threshold. Message Description Troubleshooting FW-EXCEEDED, 3, envTemp (Env Temperature ) exceeded boundary, current value: C. (faulty) Explains that the internal temperature of the switch has risen to a value that may damage the switch, or has fallen to a value that may adversely affect performance. Presents the new value. This message generally appears when a fan fails. If so, a fan-failure message will accompany this message. Replace the fan.
