4048-1xx Top cover assembly removal 1. Remove the front cover. See "Front cover removal" on page 4-9. 2. Remove the two screws as shown (A). 3. Remove the E-clips from both hinges that connect the left and right guides to the top cover (B). 4. Remove the stud hinges. 5. Open the rear exit door. 6. Remove the two screws as shown (C). 7. Remove the top cover, being careful not to damage the output tray full flags when you remove the cover. Repair information 4-11

Top cover assembly removal
1.
Remove the front cover. See
“Front cover removal” on
page 4-9
.
2.
Remove the two screws as shown (A).
3.
Remove the E-clips from both hinges that connect the left and
right guides to the top cover (B).
4.
Remove the stud hinges.
5.
Open the rear exit door.
6.
Remove the two screws as shown (C).
7.
Remove the top cover, being careful not to damage the output
tray full flags when you remove the cover.
