Paper feed service checks Paper picks and advances approximately four inches 4048-1xx FRU Reference feed assembly Backup roller assembly Paper feed gear Drive assembly Action Turn printer off and remove the print cartridge and left side cover. With a left finger, rotate the main motor counterclockwise while using a right finger to resist gear movement in the reference feed assembly (located in the paper path below the cartridge). • If the gear motion cannot be stopped, look for obstructions in the paper path, such as debris or damage. • If the gear motion can be stopped while continuing to rotate the drive motor, one of the following units has to be replaced. Check or replace the FRUs in the following order: - Backup roller assemblies - Reference feed assembly - Drive assembly When the reference feed assembly is replaced, it has to be adjusted. See "Adjusting paper feed alignment (skew)" on page 4-5 for more information. Diagnostic information 2-45
