Chapter 2: Connecting the Components Using a Router You should have a router on your network for several reasons: 1. To set up a local network so that other computers can connect to your Mirra. 2. To connect the local network to the Internet. 3. To provide firewall protection between the local network (including the Mirra) and the Internet. You should always use a router that includes a firewall to connect your local network to your Internet Service Provider (ISP) because the firewall blocks unauthorized access to your local network from the Internet.
