2 BASIC OPERATION Lock functions To prevent accidental frequency changes and unnecessary function access, use the lock function. The transceiver has 2 different lock functions. D Frequency lock This function locks [DIAL] and keys electronically and can be used together with the microphone lock function. [MENU ] Appears ± Push and hold [MENU ] for 1 sec. to turn the lock function ON or OFF. • [PTT], [MONI] (monitor function only), [VOL] and [SQL] can be used while the channel lock function is in use. Also, TONE-1, TONE-2, DTMF tones or DTMF memory contents can be transmitted from the microphone. ± Push and hold [VFO/LOCK] for 1 sec. to VFO/LOCK turn the lock function ON or OFF. D Microphone keypad lock This function locks the microphone keypad. 16KEY-L ± Push [FUNC] then [SQLZ D(16KEY-L)] to turn the microphone keypad lock function ON or OFF. • [PTT], [VFO/LOCK], [MR/CALL], [BAND], [Y], [Z], [F-1], [F-2], [DTMF-S] and [FUNC] on the microphone can be used. • All keys on the transceiver can be used. • The keypad lock function is released when the power is turned OFF then ON again. 16
