KONICAMINOLTA CONFIDENTIAL 9. FAQ C:About detection No. Class. Q&A Descriptions A small stain on the thin colored paper was successfully detected, Q while the other stain that was apparently larger was not detected. Why is that? Detection is made on both size and density of the stain. Thus, even if the size is large, but the density difference between the C-1 Detection background and the stain itself is small, it won't be detected. A Example OK NG Q Is it detectable if text loss or character loss occurs? Detectable or not depends on the size or location. Example Partial loss of character Inside of the blue circle is the area of detection. Outside of the circle is not the detection target due to the setting of detection sensitivity of the image edge periphery In the case shown above, the character loss within the detection C-2 Detection area didn't reach to the detective size, and not detected. A Loss of whole character Inside of the blue circle is the area of detection. Outside of the circle is not the detection target due to the setting of detection sensitivity of the image edge periphery Loss of whole character results in filling the detection area with the character, and detection is successfully made. However, it may not be detected depending on the size of loss. Note that it is not possible to detect perfectly. Q A stain nearby the text was not detected. Why is that? Peripheral area in certain distance is non-detective area. ※Refer to setting the detection sensitivity of the image edge periphery. C-3 Detection Example OK A ABCDE NG ※Image where non-detection area is added. Periphery of the outlined text area (red) is set to non-detective area because of the setting made by detection sensitivity of the image edge periphery, and the stain around "E" cannot be detected. 53
