Text Messages Text Messages You can send and receive text messages with other users that have SMS (Short Message Service) capability. Text messaging, or SMS messaging, can be sent from one device to another by addressing a message to the recipient's phone number. Create and Send a Text Message 1. Tap Start, then tap Messaging. 2. Tap New. 3. Enter the phone number(s) of up to ten recipient(s) in the To field. Place a semicolon between numbers, if there is more than one.
