Recording - Basics Recording a picture Viewfinder backlight You can change the brightness of the backlight when using the battery pack. Select VF B.L. in in the menu settings (p. 194). Even if you adjust VF B.L. The recorded picture will not be affected. Shooting using the viewfinder is recommended when: - You cannot see the picture clearly on the LCD screen. - Battery consumption is a concern. Using the zoom feature Move the power zoom lever a little for a slower zoom. Move it further for a faster zoom. Using the zoom sparingly results in better-looking recordings. W: Wide-angle (subject appears farther away) T: Telephoto (subject appears closer) W T W T To use zoom greater than 10× Zoom greater than 10× is performed digitally. Digital zoom can be set to 20× or 120×. To activate digital zoom, select the digital zoom power in D ZOOM in in the menu settings (p. 193). Digital zoom is set to OFF as a default setting. Because the picture is processed digitally, the picture quality deteriorates. W T The right side of the bar shows the digital zooming zone.
