Additionally, Toshiba has a strategic partnership with the manufacturers of all key components integrated into our computers. Enhanced BIOS POST Toshiba incorporates an enhanced BIOS POST (Power On Self Test) into the Tecra 8000 Series boot process. Once the machine is powered on, the system executes a testing sequence prior to loading the operating system, including analysis of the memory subsystem, display and keyboard controllers, and hard drive. The POST is a standard function for all PCs; however, Toshiba's expertise in chipset, BIOS design and hardware design enables Toshiba to customize and optimize this test sequence for each system. Proprietary features provide a technical support staff with information (regarding memory subsystem performance, keyboard controller, docking subsystem and state, etc.), over and above that analysis carried out on competitive platforms. These additional data allow the IT administrator to more quickly and accurately determine the source of a potential fault or prompt the system to reverse that fault "on the fly." LANDesk Client Manager One of the primary roles of LDCM is to provide information on PC health. The PC Health indicator displays the computer's current health and suggests ways to improve unhealthy computers. It sends notification of certain system events and conditions, such as letting the IT administrator know when virtual memory is running low. The application includes comprehensive self-help diagnostics and local and remote alerting of potential problems. Part II: Technical Reference
