Attention: The microprocessor tray is heavy. Pull the tray part-way out of the server, reposition your hands to grasp the body of the tray, and then pull the tray out the rest of the way. 7. Remove the heat sink by first fully loosening one screw; then, fully loosen the other screw and lift the heat sink off of the microprocessor. Lever closed Lever closed Lever fully open Lever fully open Attention: Before attempting to remove the heat sink from the microprocessor, note that the heat-conducting grease between the heat sink and the microprocessor might have formed a strong bond. Do not force the components apart; doing so can damage the microprocessor pins. Loosening one screw fully before loosening the other screw will help to break the thermal bond that adheres the heat sink to the microprocessor. 8. Rotate the locking lever on the microprocessor socket from its closed and locked position until it stops or clicks in the fully open position (approximately 135° angle), as shown. 9. Pull the microprocessor out of the socket. Attention: You must ensure that the locking lever on the microprocessor socket is in the fully open position before you insert the microprocessor in the socket. Failure to do so might result in permanent damage to the microprocessor, microprocessor socket, and microprocessor board. Thermal grease This section contains information about removing and replacing the thermal grease between the heat sink and the microprocessor. The thermal grease must be replaced whenever the heat sink has been removed from the top of the microprocessor and is going to be reused or when debris is found in the grease. grease
This
