switch, assembly

Page 86 highlights

PCI switch card assembly The PCI switch card assembly, mounted on the top rear of the server frame adjacent to the adapter slots, contains one switch for each of the six adapters. This ensures that power is disconnected from the associated adapter if you attempt to open the adapter latch and remove an adapter. Note: v v v Read "Installation guidelines" on page 29. Read "Safety information" on page 147. Read "Handling static-sensitive devices" on page 30. Complete the following steps to remove and replace the PCI switch card assembly: 1. Turn off the server and all peripheral devices; then, disconnect all power cords and external cables. 2. Remove the top cover (see "Removing the cover and bezel" on page 32). 3. Remove all full-length adapters and adapter insulators (see "Removing a PCI or PCI-X adapter" on page 36), making sure to place the adapters on a static-protective surface. 4. Disconnect the PCI switch card assembly cable from the server. 5. Grasp the two adapter switch card release latches and slide the assembly away from the server chassis; then, lift it out of the server. Note: The illustrations in this document might differ slightly from the hardware being serviced. Release latches 6. To replace the PCI switch card assembly, lower the assembly into place so that the lips on the bottom of the EMI shielding material fit into the chassis at the rear of the server, and slide the card into place until the two release latches snap securely. 7. Connect the cable from the PCI switch card assembly to the I/O board and install the adapters and adapter insulators that were removed in step 3. 76 IBM xSeries 365 Types 8861, 8862: Hardware Maintenance Manual and Troubleshooting Guide

This
ensures
that
power
is
disconnected
from
the
associated
adapter
if
you
attempt
to
open
the

Complete
the
following
steps
to
remove
and
replace
the
PCI
switch
card
assembly:
1.
Turn
off
the
