3 Getting Started This chapter contains the following major sections: • Default Configuration • Configure a Host Name • Access the System Remotely • Configure the Enable Password • Configuration File Management • File System Management When you power up the chassis, the system performs a Power-On Self Test (POST) during which Route Processor Module (RPM), Switch Fabric Module (SFM), and line card status LEDs blink green.The system then loads FTOS and boot messages scroll up the terminal window during this process. No user interaction is required if the boot process proceeds without interruption. When the boot process is complete, the RPM and line card status LEDs remain online (green), and the console monitor displays the EXEC mode prompt. For details on using the Command Line Interface (CLI), refer to Accessing the Command Line in the Configuration Fundamentals chapter. Console access The S4810 has 2 management ports available for system access: a serial console port and an Out-of-Bounds (OOB) port. Serial console The RJ-45/RS-232 console port is labeled on the S4810 chassis. It is in the upper right-hand side, as you face the I/O side of the chassis. RJ-45 Console Port Getting Started | 45
