To configure a UNIX logging facility level, use the following command in the CONFIGURATION mode: Command Syntax logging facility [facility-type] Command Mode CONFIGURATION Purpose Specify one of the following parameters. • auth (for authorization messages) • cron (for system scheduler messages) • daemon (for system daemons) • kern (for kernel messages) • local0 (for local use) • local1 (for local use) • local2 (for local use) • local3 (for local use) • local4 (for local use) • local5 (for local use) • local6 (for local use) • local7 (for local use). This is the default. • lpr (for line printer system messages) • mail (for mail system messages) • news (for USENET news messages) • sys9 (system use) • sys10 (system use) • sys11 (system use) • sys12 (system use) • sys13 (system use) • sys14 (system use) • syslog (for syslog messages) • user (for user programs) • uucp (UNIX to UNIX copy protocol) The default is local7. To view nondefault settings, use the show running-config logging command in the EXEC mode as shown in the example below.
