Splitting QSFP ports to SFP+ ports Splitting QSFP ports to SFP+ ports is supported on platforms: Z The S4810, S4820T and Z9000 platforms support splitting a single 40G QSFP port into four 10G SFP+ ports using one of the supported breakout cables (refer to the Installation Guide or the Release Notes for a list of supported cables). Command Syntax stack-unit stack-unit port number portmode quad Command Mode Purpose CONFIGURATION Split a single 40G port into 4-10G ports on the S4810, S4820T, or Z9000. stack-unit: Enter the stack member unit identifier of the stack member to reset. Range: 0 to 11 number: Enter the port number of the 40G port to be split. S4810 and S4820T Range: 0 to 47 for 10G ports; 48, 52, 56 and 60 for 40G ports. Z9000 Range: 0 to 31 Important Points • FANOUT is supported on 40G interfaces in Standalone as well as Stacking environments if the port is not part of a stack link. • Split ports cannot be used as stack link to stack an S4810, S4820T, or a Z9000. • If a port is part of a stack link, it cannot support FANOUT configuration. • The 40G port must be in a default configuration before it can be split into 4x10G ports. • You will be prompted to save the configuration and reload the system for the change to take effect. FTOS(conf)#stack-unit 0 port 48 portmode quad Enabling quad mode on slot 0 port 48 will make interface configs of Fo 0/48 obsolete after a save and reload. 464 | Interfaces
