These facilities include version negotiation, state information transfer, and internal synchronization functions, enabling the transition from standby to active operation. FSS is defined both as a component and a service. A component is a module in the Fabric OS, implementing a related set of functionality. A service is a collection of components grouped together to achieve a modular software architecture.
