Installing a USB or SATA tape drive The server supports USB and SATA tape drives. When you install a tape drive, be sure to connect the internal tape cable to the correct connector on the system board. To install a tape drive, complete the following steps: 1. Read the safety information that begins on page vii and "Installation guidelines" on page 28. 2. Turn off the server and peripheral devices, and disconnect the power cords and all external cables. 3. Unlock and remove the left-side cover (see "Removing the left-side cover" on page 48 for more information). 4. Open the bezel by pressing the button on the left edge of the bezel, and rotate the left side of the bezel away from the server. Chapter 2. Installing optional devices 71

Installing a USB or SATA tape drive
The server supports USB and SATA tape drives. When you install a tape drive, be
sure to connect the internal tape cable to the correct connector on the system
board.
To install a tape drive, complete the following steps:
1.
Read the safety information that begins on page vii and “Installation guidelines”
on page 28.
2.
Turn off the server and peripheral devices, and disconnect the power cords
and all external cables.
3.
Unlock and remove the left-side cover (see “Removing the left-side cover” on
page 48 for more information).
4.
Open the bezel by pressing the button on the left edge of the bezel, and rotate
the left side of the bezel away from the server.
