Installing Microprocessors 11. If your server comes with an air baffle, reinstall it. To reinstall the air baffle, follow the instructions in step 2 on page 92 in reverse order. 12. If you replace the microprocessor with one that has a different speed, you must change the switch settings on the system board. To locate the switches, see "System Board Illustration" on page 203. For information about the appropriate switch settings, see "Setting the Microprocessor Speed Switches" on page 209, or see the label inside the server cover. 13. Go to Table 13 on page 196 to update the microprocessor information; then, return here. 14. Since you installed a new microprocessor in your server, you must reconfigure your server. Follow the procedure described in "Using the Configuration/Setup Utility Program" on page 28. You might also need to make changes to your operating system. If your operating system does not support SMP, install one of the SMP operating systems that your server supports. See http://www.us.pc.ibm.com/server/ on the World Wide Web. If your operating system does support SMP, refer to your operating-system documentation. You might need to make changes so that the operating system recognizes the new microprocessor. 96 Netfinity 3500 User's Handbook

If your server comes with an air baffle, reinstall it.
To reinstall
the air baffle, follow the instructions in step 2 on page
92 in
reverse order.
12.
If you replace the microprocessor with one that has a different
speed, you must change the switch settings on the system
board.
To locate the switches, see “System Board Illustration”
on page
203.
For information about the appropriate switch
settings, see “Setting the Microprocessor Speed Switches” on
page
209, or see the label inside the server cover.
13.
Go to Table
13 on page
196 to update the microprocessor
information; then, return here.
14.
Since you installed a new microprocessor in your server, you
must reconfigure your server.
Follow the procedure described
in “Using the Configuration/Setup Utility Program” on page
28.
You might also need to make changes to your operating system.
±
If your operating system does not support SMP, install one
of the SMP operating systems that your server supports.
See http://www.us.pc.ibm.com/server/ on the World Wide
Web.
±
If your operating system does support SMP, refer to your
operating-system documentation.
You might need to make
changes so that the operating system recognizes the new
microprocessor.
