POST Messages POST Message 176 186 187 20X Description The server cover has been removed. Action: You must enter the administrator password to clear this POST message. If the message recurs when the cover has not been removed, have the system serviced. A system board or hardware security error has been cleared. Action: The administrator password was entered to clear POST message 176. No further action is required. The administrator password and startup (boot) sequences have been cleared. POST message 162 will normally display also. Action: See POST message 162 A failure occurred during the memory test. This error can be caused by: Incorrectly installed memory A failing memory module A system-board failure Action: 1. If you just installed memory, verify that the new memory is correct for your system, and that the memory modules are installed properly. If the memory is not installed correctly, reseat the memory modules. (See "Working with Memory Modules" on page 63.) Verify that the memory modules are configured correctly. (See Chapter 3, "Configuring Your Server" on page 23.) 2. Run the diagnostic programs to verify the problem. (See "Running the Diagnostic Test Programs" on page 124 for information on running the diagnostic programs that come with your server.)
