Controller Problems, Action

Page 193 highlights

Troubleshooting Controller Problems The Ethernet Activity light does not come on. Data is incorrect or sporadic. The Ethernet controller or adapter stopped working when another adapter was added to the server. Action 1. Make sure that you have loaded the network device drivers. 2. Check all connections at the Ethernet controller or adapter and the hub. 3. The network might be idle. Try sending data from this workstation. 4. Use another Ethernet adapter (see "Installing or Removing Adapters" on page 61). 5. Use another port on the hub. 6. Make sure that the hub port is configured for the correct speed (10 Mbps or 100 Mbps). 7. If you forced the duplex mode, make sure that you also force the speed to either 10 Mbps or 100 Mbps. 8. If you manually configured the duplex mode, make sure that you also manually configured the speed. If the problem still exists, have the system serviced. Make sure that you are using Category 5 cabling when operating the server at either 10 Mbps or 100 Mbps. 1. Make sure that the cable is connected to the Ethernet adapter. 2. Make sure that your PCI system BIOS is current. 3. Reseat the adapter (see "Installing or Removing Adapters" on page 61). If the problem still exists, have the system serviced. Chapter 5. when another adapter was
added to the server.
1.
Make sure that the cable is connected to the
Ethernet adapter.
2.
Make sure that your PCI system BIOS is current.
3.
Reseat the adapter (see “Installing or Removing
