Troubleshooting Monitor Problems The screen is blank. Only the cursor appears. The monitor works when you turn on the system, but goes blank when you start some application programs. Action Verify that: 1. The system power cord is plugged into the system and a working electrical outlet. 2. The monitor is turned on and the Brightness and Contrast controls are adjusted correctly. 3. The primary monitor signal cable is securely connected to the monitor and the monitor connector (video port) on the graphics adapter that comes installed in your server. To find the location of the video port, see "Input/Output Connectors" on page 10. 4. The graphics adapter is correctly installed in slot 1, the Accelerated Graphics Port (AGP). Your server comes with a graphics adapter installed in this slot. For the location of the AGP, see "Working with Adapters" on page 59. If the items above are correct and the screen remains blank, have the system serviced. Have the system serviced. Verify that: 1. The primary monitor signal cable is securely connected to the monitor and the monitor connector (video port) on the graphics adapter that comes installed in your server. To find the location of the video port, see "Input/Output Connectors" on page 10. 2. The graphics adapter is correctly installed in slot 1, the Accelerated Graphics Port (AGP). Your server comes with a graphics adapter installed in this slot. For the location of the AGP, see "Working with Adapters" on page 59. 3. You installed the necessary device drivers for the applications. To install device drivers, follow the instructions in the ServerGuide package that comes with your server.
