Removing the battery To remove the battery, complete the following steps. 1. Read the safety information that begins on page vii and "Installation guidelines" on page 13 2. If the blade workstation is installed in a BladeCenter unit, remove it (see "Removing the blade workstation from a BladeCenter unit" on page 16 for instructions). 3. Remove the blade workstation cover (see "Removing the blade workstation cover" on page 19 for instructions). 4. Locate the battery on the system board (see "System board connectors" on page 7 for instructions). 5. Use one finger to press the top of the battery clip away from the battery. The battery pops up when released. 6. Use your thumb and index finger to lift the battery from the socket. 7. Dispose of the battery as required by local ordinances or regulations. Note: See "Battery return program" on page 89 for more information. Installing the battery The following notes describe information that you must consider when you are replacing the battery in the blade workstation. v When you are replacing the battery, you must replace it with a lithium battery of the same type from the same manufacturer. v To order replacement batteries, call 1-800-426-7378 within the United States, and 1-800-465-7999 or 1-800-465-6666 within Canada. battery
To
remove
the
battery,
complete
the
following
steps.
1.
Read
the
safety
information
that
begins
on
page

and
“Installation
guidelines”
on
page

2.
If
the
blade
workstation
is
installed
in
a
BladeCenter
unit,
remove
it
(see
“Removing
the
blade
workstation
from
a
BladeCenter
unit”
on
page
16
for
instructions).
3.
Remove
the
blade
workstation
cover
(see
“Removing
the
blade
workstation
cover”
on
page
19
for
instructions).
4.
Locate
the
battery
on
the
system
board
(see
“System
board
connectors”
on
page
7
for
instructions).
5.
Use
one
finger
to
press
the
top
of
the
battery
clip
away
from
the
battery.
The
battery
pops
up
when
released.
6.
Use
your
thumb
and
index
finger
to
lift
the
battery
from
the
socket.
7.
Dispose
of
the
battery
as
required
by
local
ordinances
or
regulations.
