Fax Command Sets

Page 156 highlights

Fax Command Sets The 2864 series universal modems support four command sets for the fax function, the Class 1 command set, the TIA PN-2388 Class 2 command set, the TIA 592 Class 2.0 command set, and the ZyXEL Extended Fax AT command set. The Class 1 protocol uses the modem to transmit the fax data only. The complete organizational overhead for this protocol is handled by the connected computer. The available Class 1 commands are listed first in this chapter. Following this, we will briefly describe the supported Class 2 commands here. Please refer to the TIA document for a detailed explanation. The newer TIA standard Class 2.0 commands are also supported. Interested programmers should consult the TIA document for command details and consult ZyXEL Technical Support for supported features. The later sections are related to the ZyXEL Extended Fax AT commands. Class 1 Command Set Command Value Description +FCLASS=n Service class selection n=0 Sets to modem mode n=1 Sets to Class 1 mode n=2 Sets to Class 2 mode n=2.0 Sets to Class 2.0 mode n=6 Sets to ZFAX mode n=8 Sets to Voice mode n=Z Sets to ZyXEL fax parallel port print and/or DRAM store mode. (See also Class Z AT+F commands) Note: If S57.4=0 (default), the response to the +FCLASS=? command will not report Class 1 capability. This is due to the fact that some fax software packages may get confused by this response. +FTS=n 0-255 Stops transmission and pauses, in10ms units. +FRS=n 0-255 Waits for silence, in 10ms units. +FTM= Transmits data with a carrier. +FRM= Receives data with a carrier. +FTH= Transmits HDLC data with a carrier. +FRH= Receives HDLC data with a carrier. for a detailed explanation. The newer TIA standard Class 2.0 commands are also
supported. Interested programmers should consult the TIA document for com-
mand details and consult ZyXEL Technical Support for supported features. The lat-
er sections are related to the ZyXEL Extended Fax AT commands.
