Page 89 highlights

S-Register Descriptions The descriptions for each S-register follow. In most bit-mapped S-registers, the default bit value is 0 (which is the normal situation) and only the non-default situation is described. Some reserved bits are for factory use and the user should not change them. The Standard AT-Registers Register Default Min. Max. Description S0 0 0 255 Sets the number of rings on which the modem will answer automatically. S0=0 disables auto-answer. The maximum and minimum numbers of rings are country specific. S1 0 0 255 Counts the incoming rings and stores the value to this register. Users can read this value, but should not change it. S2 43 0 255 S2 contains the ASCII decimal value for the Escape Sequence character. The default character is the plus character (+). A value of 128-255 disables the escape code. S3 13 0 255 Contains the ASCII decimal value of the Carriage Return character. S4 10 0 255 Contains the ASCII decimal value of the Line Feed character. S5 8 0 255 Holds the ASCII decimal value of the Backspace character. A value of 128255 disables the Backspace key's delete function. S6 3 0 255 Sets the number of seconds the modem will wait before dialing if X0 or X1 is selected. If X2, X3, X4, X5, X6 or X7 is selected, the modem will dial as soon as it detects a dial tone. This S-register also sets the time-out interval for the W dial modifier to wait for the dial tone. (See also S41b4 and ATD command) 8-3
