P-335 Plus User's Guide 21.3 Problems with the WAN Table 64 Troubleshooting the WAN PROBLEM The WAN LED is off. I cannot get a WAN IP address from the ISP. I cannot access the Internet. The Internet connection disconnects. CORRECTIVE ACTION Check the connections between the ZyXEL Device WAN port and the cable/DSL modem or ethernet jack. Check whether your cable/DSL device requires a crossover or straight-through cable. Click WAN to verify your settings. The username and password apply to PPPoE and PPPoA encapsulation only. Make sure that you have entered the correct Service Type, User Name and Password (be sure to use the correct casing). Refer to the WAN Setup chapter. Make sure the ZyXEL Device is turned on and connected to the network. Verify your WAN settings. Refer to the chapter on WAN setup. Make sure you entered the correct user name and password. If you use PPPoE pass through, make sure that bridge mode is turned on. If you use PPPoE encapsulation, check the idle time-out setting. Refer to the Chapter 4 on page 57. Make sure that the Enable Parental Control check box is selected in the Parental Control screen. Make sure that you select a category in the Parental Control screen to restrict access to web pages relevant to that category. For example, select the Gambling check box to prevent access to www.onlinegambling.com. Access to a web page with a URL containing a forbidden keyword is not blocked. Make sure that you select the Keyword Blocking check box in the Content Filtering screen. Make sure that the keywords that you type are listed in the Keyword List. If a keyword that is listed in the Keyword List is not blocked when it is found in a URL, customize the keyword blocking using commands.
