175 color correction The process of improving or altering the color components of an image to compensate for deficiencies in printing inks, to solve problems in the color separation itself, or to fulfill a customer's request for modification. color gamut The range of possible colors that can be represented in a given circumstance, such as within a given color space or by a certain output device. color management A process that aims to control the representation of colors across a variety of output devices so that the colors that are generated appear consistent. Color management is based on the coordination of three processes: device calibration, device characterization, and conversion from one color space to another. color mapping A color-correction method used to convert an input file's color space to a target's color space. color profile A description of the range of colors that a device can produce. A color profile makes it possible to convert the color space of one device (such as inkjet printer) to another device (such as a computer monitor). color rendering dictionary (CRD) A three-dimensional lookup table for transforming all process color models. color space array (CSA) A three-dimensional or four-dimensional lookup table that contains data for translating a device-dependent color space into a deviceindependent L*a*b* color space.
