2. Send/Receive Documents Transmittable Documents Maximum scanning area The area of the document that the machine can scan is slightly smaller than the actual document size. Any letters or graphics outside this area will not be scanned. Maximum scanning width: Maximum scanning length: 10 inches (256 mm) The length of the document minus 0.16 inches (4 mm) from the top and bottom of the document. Other restrictions ♦ The scanner cannot recognize yellow, greenish yellow, or light blue ink. ♦ Ink, glue, and correcting fluid on documents must be dry before they pass through the document feeder. ♦ All clips, staples, and pins must be removed from documents before loading in the feeder. If these are not removed, they may damage the machine. ♦ Documents which are patched, taped, torn, smaller than the minimum size, carbon backed, easily smudged, or have a slick, coated surface should be photocopied, and the copy loaded in the feeder. 33
