Chapter 15 Bandwidth Management The following figure shows LAN subnets. You could configure one bandwidth class for subnet A and another for subnet B. Figure 77 Subnet-based Bandwidth Management Example 15.4 Application and Subnet-based Bandwidth Management You could also create bandwidth classes based on a combination of a subnet and an application. The following example table shows bandwidth allocations for application specific traffic from separate LAN subnets. Table 56 Application and Subnet-based Bandwidth Management Example TRAFFIC TYPE FROM SUBNET A FROM SUBNET B VoIP 64 Kbps 64 Kbps Web 64 Kbps 64 Kbps FTP 64 Kbps 64 Kbps E-mail 64 Kbps 64 Kbps Video 64 Kbps 64 Kbps 15.5 Bandwidth Management Priorities The following table describes the priorities that you can apply to traffic that the NBG334W forwards out through an interface. Table 57 Bandwidth Management Priorities PRIORITY LEVELS: TRAFFIC WITH A HIGHER PRIORITY GETS THROUGH FASTER WHILE TRAFFIC WITH A LOWER PRIORITY IS DROPPED IF THE NETWORK IS CONGESTED. High Typically used for voice traffic or video that is especially sensitive to jitter (jitter is the variations in delay). 144 NBG334W User's Guide
