MANUAL (manual receive) FAX FAX/TEL You control the phone line and must answer every call yourself. Use this mode when you are using a computer modem on the same line or if you receive very few fax messages. You must use this mode with Distinctive Ringing. 6-10 2. FAX (automatic receive) 3. MSG CTR (Message Center) FAX FAX/TEL MFC answers every call. Messages (30 minutes or up to 85 pages) are stored on a first come, first served basis. Use this mode to record voice and fax messages in the MFC's memory. 12-1~12-14 Select VOICE:ON when you set Message Storage. 5. TAD (External Telephone Answering Device) FAX FAX/TEL The external TAD answers every call. Voice messages are stored on the external TAD. Fax messages are printed. Use this mode if you have an external answering machine on your phone line. 2-18~2-19 Select VOICE:EXT when you set Message Storage. * The lighted indicators mean = not selected = is selected and lit. ** In FAX/TEL mode you must set the Ring Delay and F/T Ring Time.
