Recording Audio Recording Audio The camcorder features 2-channel AAC audio recording and playback. You can record audio using the built-in microphone, the mini advanced shoe and optional DM-100 Directional Stereo Microphone or the MIC terminal (commercially available microphones). When recording outdoors in the open, the built-in microphone may record loud audible wind noise. In such cases, using an external microphone with a foam cover or wind screen is recommended. 66 The audio signal will be output along with the video signal from the HDMI OUT terminal. You can record this audio signal on an external recorder. Operating modes: Using an External Microphone Using the DM-100 Directional Stereo Microphone Using the DM-100 you can accurately record audio coming directly from the direction you are recording. In either case, to reduce the amount of noise due to wind, we recommend that you use the wind screen supplied with the microphone. Attach the DM-100 Directional Stereo Microphone to the mini advanced shoe. º will appear on the screen. For details about using the optional external microphone, refer to the instruction manual of the DM-100. Using Commercially Available Microphones You can also use commercially available condenser microphones with their own power supply. You can connect almost any stereo microphone with a  3.5 mm plug but audio recording levels may vary. The camcorder will record audio from the built-in microphone unless an external microphone is connected to the MIC terminal. To use a commercially available plug-in power microphone 1 Select [MIC Power]. > [¡ " Audio Setup] > [MIC Power] 2 Select [i On] and then select [X]. IMPORTANT • Supplying power to a microphone without plug-in power functionality may damage the microphone. NOTES • To adjust the audio recording level of an external microphone connected to the MIC terminal, refer to Audio Recording Level (A 68).

The camcorder features 2-channel AAC audio recording and playback. You can record audio using the
built-in microphone, the mini advanced shoe and optional DM-100 Directional Stereo Microphone or
the MIC terminal (commercially available microphones).
When recording outdoors in the open, the built-in microphone may record loud audible wind noise. In
such cases, using an external microphone with a foam cover or wind screen is recommended.
The audio signal will be output along with the video signal from the HDMI OUT terminal. You can
record this audio signal on an external recorder.
Using an External Microphone
Using the DM-100 Directional Stereo Microphone
Using the DM-100 you can accurately record audio coming directly from the direction you are
recording. In either case, to reduce the amount of noise due to wind, we recommend that you use the
wind screen supplied with the microphone.
Attach the DM-100 Directional Stereo Microphone to the mini advanced shoe.
