Complete the following steps to replace the battery: 1. Read the safety information beginning on page iii and "Installation guidelines" on page 71 2. Follow any special handling and installation instructions that come with the battery. 3. If the blade server is operating, shut down the operating system by typing the shutdown -h now command. Refer to your operating system documentation. If the blade server was not turned off, press the power-control button (behind the blade-server control-panel door) to turn off the blade server. See "Blade server controls and LEDs" on page 14 for more information about the location of the power-control button. 4. Remove the blade server from the BladeCenter unit (see "Removing the blade server from the BladeCenter unit" on page 73 for information). 5. Carefully place the blade server on a flat, static-protective surface. 6. Open the blade server cover (see "Opening the blade server cover" on page 74 for instructions). 7.
