194 Managing Your Tecra 8000 Series Computer System management Enterprise management software compatibility Toshiba recognizes the need to manage systems within the context of the enterprise. By supporting and integrating a wide variety of system management functions with enterprise management applications, Toshiba has assured that the Tecra 8000 will work well within a managed enterprise environment. Integrated DMI support provides extensive system information to DMI-enabled enterprise management applications. In addition, plug-ins enable enterprise management applications such as Unicenter TNG, Tivoli TME 10, and Openview NNM to see and understand DMI system management data. With these plug-ins, detailed health information about the Tecra 8000 can be received and understood by these applications and appropriate action taken using LDCM's Administrator module. SNMP mapping agent With the Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) mapping agent, the Tecra 8000's detailed DMI-based information can be translated to SNMP information which can be monitored and manipulated by SNMP-enabled management applications. In addition, SNMP traps can be sent when problems arise, proactively notifying enterprise management applications of the problem. Extensive testing and integration of the Tecra 8000 Series' advanced system management features within the enterprise management environment makes this system ideal for use in large corporate environments. SMS connection With Toshiba's SMS Connection, using Microsoft's System Management Server to manage and support the Tecra 8000 Series can extend the power of this popular package to include hardware and system configurations.
