To Begin Attaching other components 15 Attaching other components If you plan to power your computer with AC power, you should plug in your AC adapter before you turn it on. Similarly, you should attach your external components and devices to your Tecra 8000 Series computer before you turn it on. For more information about each device, see "Using Your Computer in the Office" on page 21. Preparing the battery Before you can use the battery to power the computer, you must charge it. Just plug the computer into a live power outlet using the AC adapter and power cable. The AC adapter connects to the DC IN socket on the back of the computer. To charge the battery completely, leave the computer plugged in for two and a half hours with the computer's power turned off or three and a quarter hours with the power on. TECHNICAL NOTE: Once the battery is charged for the first time, don't leave the computer plugged in and turned off for more than a few hours at a time. Turning on the computer The computer is now ready for you to turn it on and begin using it. To turn on the computer: 1 Make sure your AC adapter and all the external devices (if applicable) are properly connected and ready. 2 If there is a diskette drive connected, check that it is empty.
