Hardware Features Adding memory 33 Installing a memory module You install additional memory modules into the memory expansion slots on the base of the computer. You will need a small Phillips screwdriver for this procedure. Preparing to install with Windows 95/Windows 98 Before you can install a memory module, you must first shut down the computer. To shut down and turn off the computer in Windows 95/Windows 98: 1 Press Fn and F3 simultaneously to display the Resume Mode pop-up window. 2 If Resume Mode is on, hold Fn and press F3 until Boot Mode is selected. 3 Release Fn. The Resume Mode pop-up window disappears. 4 Click Start, then click Shut Down. Windows displays the Shut Down Windows dialog box. 5 Select Shut down the computer, then click Yes or OK, as appropriate. Windows shuts down and automatically turns off the computer. Preparing to install with Windows NT Before you can install a memory module, you must first shut down the computer. To shut down and turn off the computer in Windows NT: 1 Click Start then click Shut Down. Windows NT 4.0 displays the Shut Down Windows dialog box. Part I: Getting to Know Your Computer
