198 Managing Your Tecra 8000 Series Computer Security management Hard disk drive password For added security of data, Toshiba has implemented the hard disk drive password feature across all portable platforms. Should the hard drive be removed, transferred and installed into another system with this password enabled, that user would be prevented from accessing the drive and reading sensitive data without knowledge of the coded password. HDD supervisor level password As with the general supervisor password, Toshiba offers a hard drive-specific supervisor level password for added security. Again, in the event that an employee forgets his or her password or leaves the company, data may be recovered from the hard drive easily and securely. Eject password A user can enable the notebook's eject password when docked. This function requires that the user input a password prior to the notebook ejecting from the docking station, thus preventing unauthorized users from removing the computer from the docking station, making the system that much less vulnerable to theft and/ or damage. Dock prevention lock The Toshiba dock prevention lock is embedded into a docking station itself and prevents unauthorized hot-docking. The dock prevention feature prevents an outsider from easily logging onto a LAN connection point via the docking station and tampering with data files. Part II: Technical Reference
