258 Glossary window: A portion of the screen that can display its own application or document. wizard: A helpful online tutor that guides you through common procedures or processes, as in hardware wizard. write protection: A safeguard that physically prevents you from deleting the information on a disk or other storage media. 3.5 inch disks have a small square hole with a plastic tab. To protect information on the disk, slide this tab to uncover the hole. Z zoom: A feature in many applications that makes an object on the screen smaller or larger. Zoomed Video (ZV): A PCMCIA standard which adapts the PC Card slot to allow the insertion of a ZV PC Card. Inserting a ZV PC Card establishes direct communication between the PC Card controller and the audio and video controllers, allowing large amounts of multimedia data to bypass the CPU or system bus. The Zoomed Video standard makes full-screen, full-motion video available on a notebook computer. Part III: Appendixes
