CHAPTER 5 The Setup Screens 5.1 Overview Use these screens to configure or view LAN, DHCP Client and WAN settings. 5.1.1 What You Can Do in This Chapter • The Set IP Address screen (Section 5.2 on page 68) lets you configure the WiMAX Device's IP address and subnet mask. • The DHCP Client screen (Section 5.3 on page 69) lets you view a list of all connected DHCP clients. • The Time Setting screen (Section 5.4 on page 70) lets you configure your WiMAX Device's time and date keeping settings. 5.1.2 What You Need to Know The following terms and concepts may help as you read through this chapter. LAN A Local Area Network, or a shared communication system to which many computers are attached. A LAN, as its name implies, is limited to a local area such as a home or office environment. LANs have different topologies, the most common being the linear bus and the star configuration. IP Address IP addresses identify individual devices on a network. Every networking device (including computers, servers, routers, printers, etc.) needs an IP address to communicate across the network. These networking devices are also known as hosts. Subnet Mask The subnet mask specifies the network number portion of an IP address. Your device will compute the subnet mask automatically based on the IP Address that User's Guide 67
