Chapter 7 WAN Setup Table 44 WAN Connection: PPPoE Routed (continued) LABEL DESCRIPTION PPPoE Auto Connect Select enable if you want the P-794H to establish a PPPoE connection when starting up and to automatically re-establish it when disconnected by the ISP. Discover IP Select enable if you want to get your IP subnet from the PPP Internet Subnet from IPCP Protocol Control Protocol (IPCP). If not, select disable. WAN IP address If your ISP provides you a static IP address, select this and enter the IP address here. Enable NAT on this interface Select this option to activate NAT on this interface. LCC header mode Select on if you want to enable LLC header so that the P-794H can transmit and receive packets containing LLC headers. Select off if you want to disable it. HDLC header mode Select on if you want to enable High Level Data Link Control (HDLC) header so that the P-794H can transmit and receive packets containing HDLC headers. Select off if you want to disable it. Authentication Type The P-794H supports PAP (Password Authentication Protocol) and CHAP (Challenge Handshake Authentication Protocol). CHAP is more secure than PAP; however, PAP is readily available on more platforms. Select the authentication protocol type provided by your ISP. You can choose from: User name Password User Idle Timeout Configure • auto: The P-794H accepts either CHAP or PAP when requested by this remote node. • non: The P-794H does not accept any authentication protocol type. • pap: The P-794H accepts PAP only. • chap: The P-794H accepts CHAP only. Enter the user name exactly as your ISP assigned. If assigned a name in the form user@domain where domain identifies a service name, then enter both components exactly as given. Enter the password associated with the user name above. You can specify the time in minutes that elapses before the P-794H automatically disconnects from the ISP. Enter 0 if you do not want the connection to time out. Click this to save your changes. 7.5 Edit a WAN Connection Click Edit next to an existing WAN connection to configure detailed settings.
