CHAPTER 9 DHCP Relay Configure DHCP relay on the P-794H if the DHCP clients and the DHCP server are not in the same broadcast domain. During the initial IP address leasing, the P794H helps to relay network information (such as the IP address and subnet mask) between a DHCP client and a DHCP server. Once the DHCP client obtains an IP address and can connect to the network, network information renewal is done between the DHCP client and the DHCP server without the help of the P-794H. 9.1 Enable DHCP Relay If there is already a DHCP server on your network, then you can configure the P794H as a DHCP relay agent. The P-794H acts as a DHCP relay for the LAN, allowing it to pass-through IP addresses assigned to LAN devices from the ISP servers. Click Configurations > DHCP Relay in the navigation panel. The DHCP Relay screen displays. Click the Enable button to activate the DHCP relay on the P794H. Note: DHCP server and DHCP relay cannot be enabled at the same time. Figure 89 Configurations > DHCP Relay: Enable P-794H User's Guide 143
