Chapter 5 WAN Setup Table 15 WAN Configuration: Service Type LABEL DESCRIPTION Rate Limit Enter the maximum transmission rate in Kbps for traffic sent through the WAN connection. Otherwise, leave this field blank to disable the rate limit. MTU Tag VLAN ID for egress packets Enter 802.1P Priority This field is not available for an ATM connection if QoS is disabled in the DSL ATM Interface Configuration. Maximum Transmission Unit. Type the maximum size of each data packet, in bytes, that can move through this interface. If a larger packet arrives, the Device divides it into smaller fragments. Select this option to add the VLAN tag (specified below) to the outgoing traffic through this connection. This field is available when the layer-2 interface is in VLANMUX mode. IEEE 802.1p defines up to 8 separate traffic types by inserting a tag into a MAC-layer frame that contains bits to define class of service. Type the IEEE 802.1p priority level (from 0 to 7) to add to traffic through this connection. The greater the number, the higher the priority level. Enter 802.1Q VLAN ID This field is available when the layer-2 interface is in VLANMUX mode. Type the VLAN ID number (from 1 to 4094) for traffic through this connection. This field is available when the PTM interface is in VLANMUX mode. Enable IPv6 for Select this option to enable IPv6 for this WAN service so that the Device this service can use an IPv6 address when sending traffic through this connection. Back Next You can only enable IPv6 for a WAN service that uses the PPPoE or IPoE encapsulation method over the ATM or PTM interface. Click this button to return to the previous screen. Click this button to continue. 5.6.1.3 WAN IP Address and DNS Server The screen differs by the encapsulation you selected in the previous screen. See Section 5.7 on page 95 for more information. 5.6.1.3
WAN IP Address and DNS Server
The screen differs by the encapsulation you selected in the previous screen. See
Section 5.7 on page 95
for more information.
Rate Limit
Enter the maximum transmission rate in Kbps for traffic sent through the
WAN connection. Otherwise, leave this field blank to disable the rate
limit.
This field is not available for an ATM connection if QoS is disabled in the
DSL ATM Interface Configuration.
MTU
Maximum Transmission Unit. Type the maximum size of each data
packet, in bytes, that can move through this interface. If a larger packet
arrives, the Device divides it into smaller fragments.
Tag VLAN ID
for egress
packets
Select this option to add the VLAN tag (specified below) to the outgoing
traffic through this connection.
This field is available when the layer-2 interface is in
VLANMUX
mode.
Enter 802.1P
Priority
IEEE 802.1p defines up to 8 separate traffic types by inserting a tag into
a MAC-layer frame that contains bits to define class of service.
Type the IEEE 802.1p priority level (from 0 to 7) to add to traffic through
this connection. The greater the number, the higher the priority level.
This field is available when the layer-2 interface is in
VLANMUX
mode.
Enter 802.1Q
VLAN ID
Type the VLAN ID number (from 1 to 4094) for traffic through this
connection.
This field is available when the PTM interface is in
VLANMUX
mode.
Enable IPv6 for
this service
Select this option to enable IPv6 for this WAN service so that the Device
can use an IPv6 address when sending traffic through this connection.
You can only enable IPv6 for a WAN service that uses the PPPoE or IPoE
encapsulation method over the ATM or PTM interface.
