Troubleshooting CD-ROM drive problems The CD is not working properly. The CD-ROM drive tray is not working. Action Follow the instructions in "Using the CD-ROM drive" on page 30 for using the CD-ROM drive, handling a CD, and loading a CD. Clean the CD by wiping it with a soft, lint-free cloth, from the center of the CD to the outer edge. Do not clean the CD in a circular pattern. This can cause loss of data. If a problem still exists, have the system serviced. The system must be turned on. If the system is on and the tray does not slide out of the drive when you press the Eject/Load button, insert one end of a large paper clip into the emergency-eject hole located above and to the left of the CD-ROM drive in-use light. Note: In some models, you might have to remove the front bezel from the CD-ROM drive to access the emergency-eject hole. If the drive still does not work correctly, have the system serviced.
