Troubleshooting Microprocessor problems The server emits a continuous tone during POST. Action The microprocessor is not working properly. 1. Replace the microprocessor. Restart the server. 2. If you receive the error code 167 after you install a new microprocessor, run the Flash Utility program. Insert the Flash BIOS Diskette into the primary diskette drive and run the flash program. Follow the instructions in the program. For information on error code 167, see the description in the "POST message table" on page 169. 3. If you installed a new microprocessor in your server, you must reconfigure your server. Follow the procedure described in "Using the Configuration/Setup Utility program" on page 39. 4. Refer to your operating-system documentation. You might need to make changes so that the operating system recognizes the new microprocessor. If the problem still exists, have the system serviced. Keyboard, mouse, or pointingdevice problems All or some keys on the keyboard do not work. Action Verify that: 1. The server and the monitor are turned on. 2. The keyboard cable is securely connected to the keyboard connector on the server. For the location of the keyboard connector, see "Input/output connectors" on page 11. If the problem cannot be isolated and corrected, have the keyboard and system serviced. 208 Netfinity 3000 User's Handbook
