Troubleshooting Monitor problems The monitor works when you turn on the system, but goes blank after some period of server inactivity. The screen flickers. Action The system might have a screen-saver program, or the network performance might be low. Move the mouse. The server might be set for energy savings with the Advanced Power Management (APM) feature. This feature is not available in your server and therefore, has a default setting of Disabled. If the APM feature setting has been enabled, change the setting back to Disabled. If the problem cannot be isolated and corrected, have the system serviced. Set the monitor for the highest, noninterlaced refresh rate supported by your monitor and the video controller in your server. For additional information, refer to the documentation that comes with your monitor and the README files for the graphics adapter (if applicable). The README files are on the ServerGuide CDs that come with your server. Attention: Using a resolution or refresh rate that is not supported by your monitor might damage it. You can reset the refresh rate through your operating system, using the instructions provided in the README files. Refer to your operating system documentation for further information on monitor settings. If this does not correct the problem, have the monitor and system serviced. Note: To reset the refresh rate, use a utility program, such as AnyView Professional or WinMode. Chapter 5. Solving problems 205
