PRIORITY SCAN This function checks the frequency registered to the priority channel once every three seconds, and displays the priority channel to perform communication at that frequency if it is busy. When the frequency becomes no longer busy, the transceiver will return to the previous frequency and resume the priority scan if the state of no key being operated continues for 3 seconds. Note: ¡ A frequency must be registered in advance in the priority channel [Pri]. 1 Access Menu No. 134. 2 Select [On] or [Off]. [Off]: Turns off the priority scan function. [On]: Turns on the priority scan function. Note: ¡ When the Priority Scan function is set to ON, < > will light up. ¡ When the priority channel becomes busy, the transceiver switches to the frequency display of the priority channel. Communication with the other station is possible in this state. ¡ If the state of no key being operated continues for 3 seconds when there is no signal, scanning starts again. ¡ Register an available RX frequency in the band B in the priority channel. ¡ This function can not be set to ON in selecting the Single band A. ¡ This function can not be set to ON when FM radio mode is On. SCAN AUTO BACKLIGHT This function turns on the backlight for approximately 2 seconds when scanning is paused. This function works with all scans. 1 Access Menu No. 135. 2 Select [On] or [Off]. [Off]: Turns off the scan auto backlight function. [On]: Turns on the scan auto backlight function. Note: ¡ This function does not work when [Backlight Control] (Menu No.900) is [Manual]. ¡ The lighting duration of scan auto backlight cannot be changed. CALL SCAN Use Call Scan to monitor both the Call channel and either the currently selected VFO frequency or the currently selected Memory channel. 1 Select your desired VFO frequency or Memory channel. 2 Press and hold [CALL] to start Call Scan. • The 1 MHz decimal point blinks while scanning is in progress. • When scanning with a Memory channel, the Call channel on the same band as the selected Memory channel is used for scan. 3 To quit Call Scan, press [CALL]. Note: ¡ The Memory channel selected is scanned even if it has been locked out of scan. 9-4

to start Call Scan.
