SETTING PACKET FILTER Position Limit If APRS is popular in your area, you may receive too many APRS packets for a short period. If this disturbs your APRS activities, specify a distance from your location. You will not receive APRS packets from stations beyond this distance. Select the range from 10 to 2500 in steps of 10, plus OFF (default). The unit is mile or kilometer depending on the selection in Menu No. 970. 1 Access Menu No. 550. 2 Select [Off], [10], [20] ... [2490], or [2500]. (The unit selected in Menu No. 970 (Speed, Distance) is used.) Packet Filter Type 1 Access Menu No. 551. STORING USER PHRASES This function (clipboard image) allows you to paste phrases into the APRS message compilation mode. You can create up to 20 phrases each of which can consist of up to 32 characters. 1 Access Menu No. 560. 2 Select the message number. 3 Press [A/B]. 4 Enter the phrases. • The user phrase function can only be used in the message compilation mode. • Before a message is copied, the number of letters cannot be guaranteed. Only the number of letters available will be copied, the remainder will be truncated. • To copy a message, enter message compilation mode, press [F] to enter function mode, then press [1] (Paste 1), [2] (Paste 2), [3] (Paste 3), [4] (Paste 4), [5] (Paste 5), [6] (Paste 6), [7] (Paste 7), [8] (Paste 8) or [9] (Paste 9) key for 1 second to copy the message that has been set up for each key. • If the user messages are not set up, they cannot be used. 2 Select [Weather], [Digipeater], [Mobile], [Object], [NAVITRA], [1-WAY], and/or [Others]. 3 Press [ENT]. Each press adds or removes a check mark. The APRS position data is filtered. • Check the type(s) you want to receive. • If all types are checked, you will receive all types of data. STORING AUTO MESSAGE REPLY While you are driving, for example, you cannot immediately answer to received messages. On this transceiver, you can program the message to be automatically returned when a message is received. Auto Reply 1 Access Menu No. 561. 2 Select [On] or [Off]. • "AA:", meaning "Auto Answer message", is automatically added to the beginning of all auto-reply messages.
