12 OTHER OPERATIONS FREQUENCY STEP SIZE Choosing the correct frequency step size is essential in selecting your exact frequency. The default step size on the 144 MHz band is 5 kHz (TH-D75A) or 12.5 kHz (TH-D75E). The default on the 220 MHz band is 20 kHz (TH-D75A). The default on the 430 MHz band is 25 kHz. 1 Press [VFO] to enter VFO mode. 2 Press [A/B] to select band A or B. 3 Press [F], [PF2]. Note: ¡ You cannot activate the Fine Tuning function on the A-band. ¡ The Fine Tuning function does not work in DV and FM mode (FM/ WFM/NFM). ¡ While in Fine Tuning mode, you cannot change the frequency step size, MHz mode, and MHz Scan. ¡ Simply turning the Fine Tuning function OFF will not change the current frequency or display. However, when you change the frequency, the transceiver will use the currently selected frequency step size and adjust the frequency accordingly, removing the transceiver from a finely tuned frequency. 4 Select the [ ]/[ ] or [ENC] control your desired step size to [5.0], [6.25], [8.33], [9.0], [10.0], [12.5], [15.0], [20.0], [25.0], [30.0], [50.0], or [100.0] kHz. 5 Press [A/B] to store the new setting. Note: ¡ Each band can have a separate selectable step frequency. ¡ The step size can be set in VFO mode only. ¡ The step size can not be set in FM broadcasting ¡ 8.33 kHz can be selected in 118 MHz band only. ¡ 9.0 kHz can be selected in LF/MF(AMBC) only. ¡ Changing between step sizes may correct the displayed frequency. For example, if 144.995 MHz is displayed with a 5 kHz step size selected, changing to a 12.5 kHz step size corrects the displayed frequency to 144.9875 MHz. FINE TUNING When you operate the Band B in LSB, USB, CW, or AM mode, you can turn the Fine Tuning function ON. You can further configure the Fine Tuning frequency step size from 20 Hz, 100 Hz, 500 Hz, or 1000 Hz. To activate the Fine Tuning function: 1 Press [VFO] to enter VFO mode. 2 Select the Band B. • The operating mode must be LSB, USB, CW or AM. 3 Press [F], [MHz], then set [On]. Fine Tuning Frequency Step You can select Fine Tuning frequency step. To select the Fine Tuning frequency step size: 1 Select a frequency on the B-band. 2 While the Fine Tuning mode is activated, press [F], [PF2]. • The current frequency step size appears. 3 Select your desired frequency step to [20], [100], [500], or [1000] Hz. 4 Press [A/B] to store the new setting. Note: ¡ Fine Tuning frequency step can be set separately for each frequency band. ATTENUATOR (ATT) When, for example, the target signal is difficult to hear because the other station is too strong or strong signals exist nearby, it may become easier to hear if you turn on the attenuator. 1 Press [F], [PF1]. Each press turns the function on or off. 4 Change the frequency using [ ]/[ ] or rotate the [ENC] control. • When the attenuator is on, < > is displayed in the display area at the side of the operation band on the display. Note: ¡ < > is not displayed during scanning. ¡ It does not active on FM radio broadcast band. • 100 Hz digit appears. 5 Press [F], [MHz], then set [Off] to exit Fine Tuning mode. 12-1

¡
The step size can not be set in FM broadcasting
¡
8.33 kHz can be selected in 118 MHz band only.
¡
9.0 kHz can be selected in LF/MF(AMBC) only.
¡
Changing between step sizes may correct the displayed
frequency. For example, if 144.995 MHz is displayed with a
5 kHz step size selected, changing to a 12.5 kHz step size
corrects the displayed frequency to 144.9875 MHz.
FINE TUNING
When you operate the Band B in LSB, USB, CW, or AM mode,
you can turn the Fine Tuning function ON.
You can further configure the Fine Tuning frequency step size
from 20 Hz, 100 Hz, 500 Hz, or 1000 Hz.
To activate the Fine Tuning function:
1
Press
[VFO]
to enter VFO mode.
2
Select the Band B.
The operating mode must be LSB, USB, CW or AM.
3

(FM/ WFM/NFM).
¡
While in Fine Tuning mode, you cannot change the frequency
step size, MHz mode, and MHz Scan.
¡
Simply turning the Fine Tuning function OFF will not change
the current frequency or display. However, when you change
the frequency, the transceiver will use the currently selected
frequency step size and adjust the frequency accordingly,
removing the transceiver from a finely tuned frequency.
Fine Tuning Frequency Step
You can select Fine Tuning frequency step.
To select the Fine Tuning frequency step size:
1
Select a frequency on the B-band.
2
While the Fine Tuning mode is activated, press

Note:
¡
Fine Tuning frequency step can be set separately for each
frequency band.
ATTENUATOR (ATT)
When, for example, the target signal is difficult to hear
because the other station is too strong or strong signals
exist nearby, it may become easier to hear if you turn on the
attenuator.
