Obtain an IP Address Automatically Select this radio button if your ISP did not assign you a fixed IP address. Static IP Address Select this radio button if your ISP assigned an IP address for your Internet connection. IP Address Enter the IP address provided by your ISP. Subnet Mask Enter the IP subnet mask in this field. Gateway IP Address Enter the gateway IP address in this field. Exit Click this to close the wizard screen without saving. Back Click this to return to the previous screen. Next Click this to continue. Note: If you get an error screen after clicking Next, you might have selected the wrong Internet Connection type. Click Back, make sure your Internet connection is working and select the right Connection Type. Contact your ISP if you are not sure of your Internet Connection type. 2.3.2 Connection Type: PPPoE Point-to-Point Protocol over Ethernet (PPPoE) functions as a dial-up connection. PPPoE is an IETF (Internet Engineering Task Force) standard specifying how a host personal computer interacts with a broadband modem (for example DSL, cable, wireless, etc.) to achieve access to high-speed data networks.
